Welcome to the Borough of North Haledon’s website.  We hope that you will find its new appearance attractive as well as user friendly. We are committed to our goal of supplying our residents with the most up-to-date information in the timeliest manner.  As always, we are open to suggestions on ways we can improve this very important medium for the distribution of important Borough information.  Please call my office at 973-427-4129 or come to a Mayor and Council meeting if you have any concerns.  Thank you.

December 5, 2018 - Following the president's decision, Mayor George is cancelling this coming Wednesday's Mayor and Council meetings, out of respect to George H.W. Bush. The meetings are being rescheduled to the following Wednesday, December 12th at 7:30 pm.

December 17, 2018 - Board of Health Regular Meeting canceled due to lack of business.

December 18, 2018 - Borough Offices will be closing at 12:00 pm.    

December 20, 2018 - 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm the Passaic County Clerk's Office will provide full Passport Services, Notary Registration/ Renewal Services, and Identification Cards to Passaic County

Crossing Guard Help Wanted:

The North Haledon Police Department is looking for a reliable part-time School Crossing Guard to assist students as they cross the street safely on their way to and from school.  Candidates must be available to work between 7:45 am - 8:45 am and 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.  Applications are available at the North Haledon Police Department, 103 Overlook Avenue, North Haledon, NJ 07508.  Salary range is $14.00 - 18.00 per hour. 

Snow Shoveling Volunteers:

Borough of North Haledon is looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping out the elderly or residents with medical issues who need help with shoveling after a snowstorm.  If you are interested in enrolling as a volunteer please email the mayor at mayor@northhaledon.com or call 973-427-7793.

Interested in learning more about redevelopment zone

If residents wish to inform themselves about information regarding the redevelopment zone and the possibility of additional townhouses/ apartments on Belmont Avenue, the Mayor will be happy to meet with them anytime. All the information regarding the above, is at the Municipal Building, such as charts and photo renderings. The Mayor would suggest meeting at the Municipal Building, pick a night or afternoon, and he will make himself available. You can also attend the third Wednesday of the month Mayor and Council Meeting or attend the Planning Board Meeting on the second and fourth Thursday. You can contact the municipal building with possible dates, or email the mayor at mayor@northhaledon.com.

Response to need for Ambulance Coverage:          

At the Council Meeting on October 18th, the Borough of North Haledon and the City of Paterson entered into a Shared Services Agreement for Emergency Medical Services with the Paterson Fire Department. The Paterson Fire Department will be responding to all ambulance calls in the Borough of North Haledon, except for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and midnight, when the North Haledon Volunteer Ambulance has a duty crew.  Whenever possible, patients will be given a choice of destination medical centers located in Paterson or Wayne. Patients’ requests to be transported to medical facilities in other New Jersey municipalities will be considered providing the request does not compromise the health of the patient. Paterson will bill customers using its emergency medical services through customary billing procedures, and will accept assignment from the patient’s insurance company, but will not balance bill, and if the patient does not have insurance coverage, Paterson will not send the patient a bill.

Veterans exemption from payment of municipal parking  meters:

NJ Law permits exemption exemption from payment of municipal parking meters, for up to 24 hours, for disabled veterans and Purple Heart recipients under specific circumstances. Click here to find out more.

Brush/Branch Drop Off

Brush and branches no bigger than 6 inches in diameter and 6 feet long can be dropped off at the recycling center.  No trees or bases of trees will be picked up curbside, nor will they be accepted at the recycling center. Brush/branch drop off is only permitted on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Tree Branch Removal 

If a tree fell on your property, it is your responsibility as the property owner, to have the tree removed by contacting a tree contractor.  No trees or bases of trees will be picked up curbside, nor will they be accepted at the recycling center.
