At the Council Meeting on October 18th, the Borough of North Haledon and the City of Paterson entered into a Shared Services Agreement for Emergency Medical Services with the Paterson Fire Department. The Paterson Fire Department will be responding to all ambulance calls in the Borough of North Haledon, except for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and midnight, when the North Haledon Volunteer Ambulance has a duty crew. Whenever possible, patients will be given a choice of destination medical centers located in Paterson or Wayne. Patients’ requests to be transported to medical facilities in other New Jersey municipalities will be considered providing the request does not compromise the health of the patient. Paterson will bill customers using its emergency medical services through customary billing procedures, and will accept assignment from the patient’s insurance company, but will not balance bill, and if the patient does not have insurance coverage, Paterson will not send the patient a bill.
